Friday Educational Tour – MilliporeSigma, Sheboygan Falls, WI 8:00am - 4:30pm

with Stop in Manatowoc, WI to visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum

http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/safc/facilities/sheboygan-wisconsin.html
http://www.wisconsinmaritime.org/
Our first stop will be Millipore Sigma Aldrich production facility in Sheboygan Falls. The tour will visit PRO 4 – analytical solvent production and packaging, glassware scale production, PRO 1 – large-scale production, and finally a quality control facility.
Special Note:
  1. As much as possible, the tour should be limited to NAOSMM members. For safety reasons, no children will be allowed in the facility.
  2. Anyone taking the tour must wear clothing appropriate to the lab. Closed toed shoes are a must. Any additional PPE such as lab glasses or coats will be provided.
  3. The possibility of people driving themselves was raised. While not impossible, we would discourage it since the Department of Homeland Security does random vehicle searches at the time of exit. This is not limited to guests. The person I am working with from the facility has been searched multiple times. This can cause delays for people wanting to leave.
  4. In an effort to speed registration, we will have packets detailing safety procedures as well as the required guest paperwork so that information can be completed during the ride to the facility in order to speed up the registration process. We may also have someone from EHS on the bus to help with the registration process.
  5. Each person on the tour will need a government-issued ID to confirm registration upon reaching the facility.
After Lunch in Manitowoc at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, you will have the opportunity to visit the Museum. At the museum, you will learn about the maritime history of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes. Highlights include a walking tour of the USS Cobia (a sub that sunk 13 Japanese vessels during WWII), Chief Wawatam steam engine (a 65 ton steam engine from an icebreaker carferry), and an exhibit highlighting shipwrecks mid-lake region of Lake Michigan.
Cost Per Person: $35.00 (Limited to 56)
