Hot and Sunny Florida will honor its name. The average high temperature is 90 degrees, but the constant high humidity (usually 100%) will make it feel much warmer than that. Air conditioned areas will be your best-friends. The low temperature average is 75. During the summer, daily afternoon rain showers (with thunderstorms) are the norm, but they do not last long. Suntan lotion, hydration, and an umbrella or light raincoat are highly recommended.
St. Pete is a beautiful, small, quaint, safe town. Most everything is within walking distance. There is a trolley that can be quite convenient, taxi cabs are readily available, and Uber services the area.
If you visit the official St. Pete Conventions and Visitors Bureau (CVB) website -http://www.visitstpeteclearwater.com,-scroll to the bottom of the page and you can request a free copy of the St. Pete Destination magazine, which is very comprehensive. Another official link to help you get your planning started is the City of St. Pete webpage, http://www.stpete.org.
This would be the perfect place to tag a vacation to the beginning or the end of the conference. There are many museums and galleries in the area to satisfy most niches. For art lovers, there is the Dali Museum, the Chihuly Gallery, and the Museum of fine Arts; for history buffs-the Holocaust Museum among others; for families with children-the Great Explorations Children Museum; for baseball fans, The Ted Williams Museum and Hitters Hall of Fame, and much more.
